EQUITY SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Mount Olivet Foundation is offering an Equity Scholarship toward the cost of post-secondary school education for an African-American or Latino/a high school senior entering college in Fall of 2025 from the following high schools: (I) All High Schools in Arlington County, Virginia; (ii) Alexandria City High School (Alexandria, Virginia);  (iii) Justice High School (Fairfax County, Virginia) and (iv) Meridian High School (Falls Church City, Virginia).

 

Eligibility. To be eligible, candidates should be African-American or Latino/a, have been accepted at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or equivalent institution, have a GPA of at least 2.5, and demonstrate financial need due to family circumstances*. In addition, preference will be given to applicants who are the first in their families to attend a post-secondary school.

 

*The following circumstances will be taken into consideration:

• Single parent household

• Family income below $60,000 (for family of four)

• Family receives additional benefits (welfare, SNAP, free-reduced school meals)

• Number of people in household being supported by family income

 

Scholarship. A scholarship of up to $5,000 towards tuition and academic expenses will be awarded. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient maintains a GPA of at least 2.5, is making substantial progress towards an undergraduate degree, and funds are available.  

 

Selection. Applicants will be ranked according to financial need, written submissions, leadership potential, and community service. The top five candidates will be interviewed remotely by the Selection Committee before it makes its recommendation to the Mount Olivet Foundation Board. The 2025 Scholarship recipient will be announced by April 30, 2025.​​​​​​​​
